Why Should You Own Great Pickleball Shoes?

After two months of playing pickleball once a week, I realized that I was definitely wearing the wrong shoes. I started with running shoes. Not good for a sport which includes tremendous side to side and quick, forward / lateral movements. Wearing good court shoes can lessen the chances of injury and prevent you from getting sore feet and blisters. If you play pickleball wearing poor quality shoes – or ones that are not designed specifically for courts (i.e. running shoes) you could end up having to limit your time on the court due to pain or discomfort.

Indoor vs Outdoor Shoes

The section title says it all, indoor shoes are made for playing indoors, while outdoor shoes are made for playing outdoors. Since Pickleball is played both in and outdoors, it is up to you to determine which kind you need. Outdoor shoes tend to be more durable, but indoor shoes tend to be lighter.

From personal experience, wearing indoor shoes on outdoor courts is not ideal. My indoor shoes lasted about 45 days due to my outdoor playing style. They just did not last. Do your research for sure.
